Wednesday I had my 37 week check-up at the doctor. As usual, no progress made. I keep wondering if this kid will ever come out. All the women in my family dilate so early, but with Joaquin I never dilated until I was in full labor. Not so bad you think, except that means I am in more pain for longer during the labor process.
The doctor keeps thinking that he is going to be a "big baby". Isn't that an exciting thought?! He says if we start getting towards 10lbs that we will kick him out. I read a story about a woman whose doctor thought the baby was going to be 8.5lbs and when he delivered her naturally, the baby was 11.5lbs. I am not sure they are a good judge of true baby size. Farhart predicted JQ to be 8 to 9 lbs, and he was 8' ll oz. Not so bad, but I am not sure I could handle any bigger.
I will keep you updated on the progress. Unless I go into labor between now and next Wednesday, I am sure I will be here to report 1 cm and no progress. Until then...

Visit with the Haskin Girls

So, on Monday, Memorial Day, Joaquin and I made the 1.5 hour drive to Cotulla to visit his 3 cousins. The drive was not what I was expecting. Joaquin was so well behaved and sat and watched Nemo the entire time. He kept saying, "Dori, where are you?" whenever she would leave the screen. (My son is too cute). The nicest part of the trip was that the speedlimit was actually 75 and not 70... this made me not feel quite as bad about driving 78, although I would have done it regardless of the speedlimit change.
We finally made it to Cotulla, surprising my sister about how early we were. She made the kids breakfast, they ate, and then they were off to play while we spent about 45 minutes trying to blow up a kiddy-pool/slide set. In the end, all of the hot air was worth it. The kids played for almost 2 hours outside non-stop. It is funny with how little they see each other, that every time they get together they act like they have never been apart.
Joaquin loved his new little cousin! This made me so happy and excited about bringing Joel home. Hopefully he loves his brother as much as his cousins.
Here are a few pictures from the trip (note: you will not be seeing any of me here or hardly ever)

Giving it a try
I have been wanting to have a blog for a while, but never thought I could stay organized enough or blog often enough. Here is my shot at it.
I think it is the easiest way to communicate with family that don't live in town.
Maybe sometimes I won't write anything, but just post pictures of our boys.
As you can tell, I am not great with words... but like I said, I am going to give it a try.
